We are a team of experienced networking consultants specializing in design, implementation and support of Cisco solutions. One of our customers requires a contract engineer to help support their North Jersey Operation.
The position`s primary responsibility is the management of the LAN and WAN environments of several North Jersey locations. This includes: providing troubleshooting and maintenance services for the infrastructure; reviewing, testing and executing configuration tasks that enhance reliability and redundancy, improve traffic flow, and ensure the maximum availability of the communications infrastructure to the user community; monitoring performance and security and documentating the relevant network information to ensure data security, integrity and supportability; assisting internal customers to define requirements for network performance, security, capacity and scalability; providing high-level design services for inter- network architecture, which could include LANs, routed and switched WANs, and remote access networks.
Critical Technical Skills/Qualifications:
• A firm undestanding of IP subnetting
• At least 2 years of network engineering experience building, maintaining and securing production data networks
• Experience supporting server and application teams building and troubleshooting connectivity and providing 2nd and 3rd-level support to the Help Desk
• Solid configuration skills in Cisco Layer-3 switches and routers - EIGRP a plus
• Good working knowledge of WAN concepts including, T1, DS3, MPLS and Cisco Routers including protocols BGP, HSRP
• Hands-on experience with network security, including firewalling, RA and L2L VPN (preferably PIX, VPN Concentrators, ASA, PIX)
• Knowledge of Avaya IP phone systems a plus
